Bridgestone Potenza RE001

Yokohama Parada Spec 2 was a good tyre. Overall performance on dry road was good. For wet surface, better than AD07.

Got some review on Bridgestone Potenza RE001. The urge to try out this tyre had been pressing me so I thought why not. So, I sold off the Parada and get 4 new RE001.

I had to wait for almost 1 month after Parada sold off before I could see RE001. Luckily the tyre shop owner was kind enough to lend me 1 set of rims and tyres. :)

On Thursday, James told me that the owner of tyre shop called him up and told him that RE001 had arrived. Finally...the anticipated Bridgestone Potenza RE001 had turn up. ;)

So, on Saturday, I went to exchange the current rims and tyres (borrowed from tyre shop) with my rims and new RE001.

The threads are so nice and different. Very interesting. It had mounted to the rims when I reached there. So, the installation process begins. After alignment and payment made, I took a ride with these new tyres.

My comment would be...very silent and nice grip on dry (still in run-in progress). To my surprise, the comfort level is very high. You won't feel too bumpy riding on these RE001. Very nice feel I would say. But I don't how's the performance of these tyres on track. ;P

Potenza RE001

rim cap ayam (not well known brand)..hehe..

Bridgestone..a bit shaky...hehe..

After mounted..yahoooo...my ride is back to previous look...

James tested and told me that the RE001 is very good during cornering... With your price I can say it worth every cents...
Great buy!!!

RE001 is only normal street tyre
made in tom yam land and too overpriced
Real man uses semi slicks a.k.a Toyo R888, Yokohama Advan A048

Indeed RE001 made in Thailand. At least the price is reasonable to me. :)

Semi slicks more to be use for track or race. It is not suitable for streets especially raining time.

Real man will not be hiding behind 'annonymous'. :) Intro yourself and we can share learning more about cars. :)

Actually almost all of the tyres lose their grip up to 50% when it comes to raining, it's better to drive slowly but safely in the rain =)

There are certain performance ranges rated in semi slicks too
For example, those 2 which i've mentioned above have compound much suited to track. There are lower grade semi slicks like Yokohama AD07, Toyo R1R, Hankook Ventus RS2 that have more threads and can cope well with use on normal roads.

In your price range, I think AD07 will be a better investment. Since it was discontinued, you can try out Hankook Ventus RS2, RS3 (newer) if you can find =D

Personally, I'm using AD07. They grip like go-kart lol. Although they are semi slicks, they are not as dangerous in the rain as I thought =), my old falken ze912 were much more dangerous.. O_o

P.S : I wasn't trying to hide, lol. Just didn't have an ID / blogger account.

Hi Shun,
Nice to meet you. It's great to have a new friend to share some information about cars. :) Thanks for the comment and info. Learnt a lot today. ;)

AD07 really great on the street. Very firm grip. Some of my friends tried out AD07 and their feedbacks were great on dry streets but not in wet. Well, semi slicks are well known for dry but not wet. :D

I thought to try out RE001 to get the real 'feel' so that we can compare it among friends. Maybe the next round would be Hankook RS2. :)

Thanks again for your comment. Feel free to drop more comments and share your idea. Enjoy your stay in my blog. :)

Lol, no problem man
We both have the same interest and that is in driving and about cars. =)

Tell you a story, my cousin (a normal dude that drives normally lol) just changed all 4 RE001 onto his ride. But then sold it off after just one week and changed to Continental ...
What a waste!! (though he complained about the comfort, but good handling tyres usually noisy and harder, lol -_-)

Anyway, It's always better to stay in 15" wheel because the 15" tyres are the most affordable =)
On next change I would try out 205/50R15 size for wider contact hehe.

My friend changed to RE001 after his AD07 worn off and he claims that the comfort and noise level of RE001 is better than AD07. I guess everyone have their own 'taste'. :)

Yup..i agree. 15" is the best choice in terms of economically. ;)

Wider contact will defintely gives you a better grip force. You sure will like it very much. ;D

Yeah, if you compare RE001 to AD07 definitely RE001 has lesser road noise while cruising but you trade some of the handling off for comfort =)

I'm not sure if we can find this yet, but i heard RE11 is the new flagship performance tyre, it's assymetrical and has grip on par with RE070 (OEM on Civic Type R)
With this i think can outperform AD07 xD

Yeah..need to sacrifice something to gain something else. :)

Not sure about those new release tyres. Sometimes it is hard to get newly release tyres coz M'sia market is less competitive compare to others, I think. ;)

Ha ha ha... just realized that there is so much discussion in this thread. I have used AD07 and recently changed to Hankook V12. AD07 is like i said "chewing gum Tyre in Dry" totally no dispute, but I spun once at a corner in Cameron during rain and lucky that the car did not bang any thing other than the hood now faces the other way round :). After that I drive less than 70kmh in Rain (No joke). For those of you who may fancy trying to get RS2/RS3 like i do. Bad news, you need to upgrade your 15 inch to at least 16 inch and above. They only take the bigger wheels into Malaysia for RS2/RS3 last check.(Not sure now la). For the V12 I would say it is a good tyre (note not GREAT ok), the side wall is softer but the ride and noise level is super low. In rain there is no problem at all I can do 130kmh and hit puddles and yet feel there is grip. At Cameron corners it can do 80kmh limit with a little bit of slide feel as warning to driver. For RM215 for 55 series this is a steal, like i said it is a Good performance tyre, but not great. It is a Great value for money tyre!.
